Wow you're amazing

Breakout, the church that acts”. In the series we will look at the church coming to life and see the kind of things they moved away from and the kind of things they moved into. The breakout of the kingdom of God into the world.

As I look at what God is doing in this place I am amazed and almost overwhelmed by his and your faithfulness.

Recently I visited someone from the church that had been very unwell. He reported back to me that so many people had been caring and supporting him during a very difficult time. This is the body of the church doing what Jesus has commanded, loving one another.

Another time I heard of a tragedy in the wider community and there were members of St Mary Magdalene alongside. Christians in the right place and at the right time showing the love of God in both practical and prayerful ways. Just one story of hundreds of stories that happen each day; hospital visits, care for neighbours, conversations with people and involvement in community. Again doing what Jesus commanded in the everyday, loving our neighbours.

It’s happening in structured ways too, some of you are involved in thinking through how we can serve the poorest in our community and doing so with other churches and key organisations.

I have also been really encouraged that so many of you have made a choice to get connected and get growing this term by joining a Life Group. Over 70 of you have signed up for termly Life Groups and if we include the other small groups that means there are over 84 people in groups. Great choices.

All around the church is growing, new people, people coming to faith, people growing in faith. Teams being built, dreams being shared and plans are starting to be made for the implementation of a larger vision. But lets have one more wow of encouragement.

The 9am traditional communion service has out grown the side chapel. Attendance is now regularly between 12 and 16 people so we have to move and make space for more. From Sunday 9th October we will be meeting in the chancel on chairs were we can seat 20-30 people. We plan to have musical worship each week and we are delighted that Aubrey will be joining us on the second Sunday of each month to play the organ.
