Serving the Church
Did you know that the small collection of cards and books on sale at the back of the church, carefully looked after and selected by Jean Leaman comes from the Choice Words Bookshop in Newton Abbot? Torquay doesn't have a branch and sadly the Paignton branch is now closed so Jean's stall, regularly replenished, serves to help fill the gap. The Newton Abbot shop at 71 Queen Street, (just past Argos), run by Roy and Pam Brittle and ably helped by Mark and Steve, offers an amazing range of Christian books, CD's, audio books, videos, DVD's greeting cards for all occasions, as well as Christian gifts - well worth a visit if you are in Newton.

The main part of the shop carries a very wide selection of books, ranging from Bibles to Christian fiction and non-fiction, with a shelf devoted to books on Israel; CD's, cassettes and books of Christian music and songs, novel gifts and greetings cards. Tucked away towards the back of the shop is the children's section catering for all ages and full of brightly coloured and illustrated Bible stories, stories of famous Christians, fiction, activity books, stickers, gifts etc. Further back still is another very well stocked area devoted to books and resources for school, Sunday school, froup study etc. Group purchases earn a useful discount and at different times through the year there are special promotions with generous offers.

But if you can't manage to get to Newton Abbot, take a few moments to look at the stall at the back of the church. There is always a broad range of titles and prices and there are catalogues available too so, if what you would like isn't on display, it can be ordered for you.
