Little School - Big Heart

“I have been at the school since Sept 2007. Before that, I taught in a school in Newton Abbot. I became a teacher after doing a lot of other things including working in London as a market analyst, and owning/running a business. This summer in the spare time I have started to grow veg, tomatoes got blight, deer ate the strawberries, turnips have gone peculiar. And, yes, in my office I have a pink, fluffy phone!”

“Probably the fact that we don’t spend all our time waiting for Ofsted to visit us every term and we can  therefore focus on wider issues rather than just the next inspection. Morale has always been good, we have  always faced up to challenges and got on with making things better which is still the attitude now!”

The starts of our  mission statement reads, “Upton St James is a Christian School, developing confident, caring children”. We encourage children to become independent and creative learners, who work hard to achieve their full  potential. We have high expectations of behaviour and care for one another, established in the Christian ethos.”
